I bought the Barrettsburg Tool & Die kit. I got to step 2 where you cut the hole for freight car or engine to go into and I'm a bit confused. I'm wondering why I have to cut at the score line above the horizontal bricks when I can cut below the bricks and stiffen the score line like in the directions. I believe that still gives me 4.25" in height. That way I could keep this wall section intact instead of cutting it in half. Plus do I use the side wall section with the horizontal slot under the door for the wall with the opening I'm talking about.

You might note that it's a tight fit for most rail cars. We built the foundation of the model up about 3/8" to accommodate most box cars. Flat car not so much.

Two layers of Masonite, about 3/16" each, and the Midwest cork was removed from under the track.

Thanks for the info and the link. I guess my biggest issue was understanding how you have to cut the top of the second front wall panel then add it to the panel that the hole goes into, so both walls are the same height. Is that correct?
