Ron...Email me your address. I received a free booklet from the publisher of CTT magazine regarding Basic Toy Train Wiring. I will send it to you free of charge since all it cost me was nothing! Cost my wife a subcription to Model Railroader though!

I sure do enjoy Peter Riddle's Wiring for Your Toy Train Layout, now out-of-print. Seriously, I read it cover to cover. If you can find a used copy, it is worth it.

First off, Welcome to the forum.

For a small layout like you are making a single pair of wires to the track from the Transformer will suffice.

A pair probably came with the Set if you bought one.

You may be aware there are many more good makers of Trains out there that can mix or match with Lionel today.

Just follow the instructions with the Transformer and you should be fine.

If you got an MTH set it's Red to Red and Black to Black all the way and you are done.
