Hi all. About to replace the battery in my "E" train subway set with a BCR. Quick question, should I charge the BCR before installing? Set has not been run in about 5 years or more. Was thinking to put the BCR on a 9V rechargeable battery charger first. Any thoughts are apricated and thank you

No, do no charge it before installing.
The "Why" behind that answer- let's say you mess up after charging that BCR- which is a bank of super capacitors. Let's say it touches metal and shorts the contacts, or while plugging in, you touch it momentarily reverse polarity to the wiring connector- a bright blue flash and smoke is what happens.
Thank you for responding. Hope to have it running this week!
Your E train has an internal charging circuit The BCR takes 30 seconds to charge up So install the BCR, power up your train on the track and let it sit for 30 seconds Do not try to move the train before that 30 seconds as the symptom would be the same as a dead battery
Thank you very much
