Check out this link for a terrific color print of the Rock Island E-6 Golden State in a winter time scene. It's done by long-time railroad artist Ron Hatch. If I had the GGD version of the train, I'd own one.

Carl,
That is a nice painting by Ron Hatch, thanks for pointing it out. Since it has only one engine and all silver lightweight cars it looks more like the Rocky Mountain Rocket. It seems to me in the streamlined car era when the E6 was used, the Golden State Express had multicolored cars and with two engines. Anybody know for sure?
Since most RI passenger trains went through Bureau Junction just west of Chicago the location is no help. Those passengers who were "Golden State Bound" could be on either train, with those on the Rocky Mountain Rocket changing railroads in Denver.
Since I have Lionel's version of the E6 "The Rocket" engine, I would like to find scale RI passenger cars that would fit the Rocky Mountain. Did GGD do any?
Ron, the train name is my mistake in my original post. The picture's title is "Golden State Bound" and does not identify the train portrayed in the picture.
I came across the picture while researching Ron Hatch. I purchased a set of limited edition pen and ink drawings he did of Burlington steam locos back in the late '80s while visiting Galesburg, IL Railroad Days. I've never used them in all those years and am getting ready to sell them along with other unused and unneeded items; hence, the research on the artist.
It's a nice picture and posting the link seemed timely given the GGD release.
Ron,
3rd Rail has just recently released several versions of the "Rocket" trains. You might try looking at their website.
