I am going to do a model of this station. The building was built with blue marble stone that was hand quarried from West Rutland.
I am having a hard time finding a source for siding that would match the real thing. Has anyone tried to do this?

Avanti,
I may have to do it that way. If I did I think I would try and come up with a stamp that could be pressed into the foam.
This is the Hoosac tunnel that I did. Everything is carved freehand.
Steve
Very impressive work, Pete.
That tunnel is awesome, Steve. If you can do that, you certainly won't have any trouble with the walls of the station. I am skeptical about the stamp, though. Stone work goes pretty fast once you get into it. You could end up spending more time on the stamp than you would on hand-carving.
BTW: It is good to have another Super-O fan over hear at Scenery and Structures. Please post more pics of your layout.
Pete
As you can see I have a long ways to go to catch you. It is pictures like yours that give me something to shoot for.
Hi, Steve
I can engrave for you stone pattern on a grey cardboard.
I will show you some samples later.
let me know.
BTW did you made the first attempt of the Hoosac tunnel as well?
Andre.
Andre,
Yes that was my first try on the Hoosac Tunnel. I would like to see what you could do for the stone pattern.
Steve
Very interesting structure. What is it's current function?
Steve here is a sample.
300 dpi resolution.
Thanks for the link, Steve. Fascinating history and a jewel of building. This station will make for a beautiful model.
Do you have the plans/drawing. I believe they have been published in the past.
Malcolm
Jon,
I think it will just be the outside of the building that I will be doing. I guess I could do a larger model as a doll house, but I don't have that much time.
Malcolm,
I don't know of any plans. I will have to dig deeper. I have been working on drawings using photos and AutoCAD.

I hadn't thought of a finished interior, but that would fun to see. After reading the description of it's interior finishes, I was delighted to find a few current photographs. Considering the varied uses the station has served, It's impressive to see that much of the original fabric has survived.
Steve,
I am looking through my files, I thought I had them. Don't get too excited, you can't always count on my memory.
Malcolm
Steve,
I would look at all the Plastruct patterned sheets. You may find something pretty close.
Alan Graziano
I am thinking that Chooch makes some rubber material that MIGHT be close...you'd
have to hand tint some of the stones to blue...I found it...Chooch #8264 looks close..
I don't like this stuff much, but use it for variety...I much prefer a foam material from
Ultimate Scenery System, but both are priced about the same..$12.00 a sheet, which
means several sheets for a building in O scale. I don't think they have a stone that
is close, but check. I didn't have any luck talking USS into making sheets with the
stone pattern common to old iron furnaces.
Andre
It looked good but not close enough to what I want to do. Stay tuned.
