Thank you.

That beautiful station at Hillsdale is where my fascination with trains flourished. I would go watch the parade of commuter trains after riding my bike to the station. Every other Monday a local Erie Lackawanna freight would take the siding and wait for the commuter trains to finish up (around 7:50 PM) and then continue north. One day the crew asked me to get them a pizza - then invited me to have a slice with them in the caboose. I climbed up into the cupola and watched the last passenger train go while eating a slice.

There was a single blade semaphore right up from the station that was "my" signal.

Thanks for the pictures that stirred those memories.

What a great collection/post @prrhorseshoecurve! I grew up in Park Ridge and have lived in Waldwick since 1990.

The first picture you have for Park Ridge is the building across from the train station that CycleSport has been in since the 1970s or maybe earlier. I'm very familiar with the train station as it was one of the town's political headquarters each year and my dad was involved in politics. I remember being inside it with the pot belly stove keeping us warm as we folded flyers, stuffed and stamped the envelopes.

In Waldwick, I don't recall seeing the smaller structure that was shown across the tracks from the main station which has been replaced by a more modern NJ Transit passenger waiting room. The Waldwick train station was restored and is a mini museum - https://waldwickcommunityallia...wick-railroad-museum . The nearby  signal tower was also restored.

Thanks so much for posting...   I grew up in Oradell, NJ.  My dad commuted on that line to get into Manhattan everyday for well over a decade, probably 1965 to 1975.   I remember a bunch of these stations, but wish I had a buck for everytime I walked through the Oradell station on my way home from school....
