Yesterday was my birthday.  It was also the monthly meeting of the Sugar Creek Model Railroad Club.  And someone donated what could be called a metric (poop)load of postwar and prewar Lionels in,  well, let's be charitable and say 'well loved' condition.  After a bit of haggling (and a modest donation to the club), the Razorback Traction Company's Home For Wayward Lionels has added this:  GEDC2234

After a bit of cleaning and tweaking, this 2032 consist was growling pleasantly along my layout last night:

The motor in this 628 was immaculate.  Once I get the E-unit sorted out, it should be a nice runner!

The prewar 253, while dismanted, has all the major components and, being fairly bulletproof, should go together nicely once I get a new pickup:

The postwar freight cars will also clean up well with a bit of loving:

This stock car is in very nice condition.  All it needs is a giraffe sticking out of the roof:

Some Marx and Lionel signals were also  included:

And now, closeups of the 253:

Note the Christmas tree light in this Pullman:

I'm looking forward to rehabbing the vintage Lionel transformer in order to run the prewar varnish:

A pair of 1122 switches and a stack of O27 track complete the package!

All in all, a very happy birthday!

Mitch

If that 1033 works, any interest in a swap? I have one that needs a little work, want to replace it with another 1033 as it was my great uncle's set transformer.

(cleans the case and the direction/whistle contacts) Cord still flexible, original Lionel plug, doesn't explode when plugged in, 15.5 peak volts, 21.5 with the whistle on but doesn't fully activate either of two whistle tenders I tried.  I figure a new rectifier disc will get it back up to factory specs.  Still interested?
