Best book on DCC fundamentals and implementation

All:

I am planning the design and construction of a 10'x20' HO scale layout (not for myself) that will use DCC. The must-have requirements are:

Reliable operation, preferably hands-off
Computer control of trains, accessories, and lights
Simplistic wiring and maintenance characteristics

I am looking for a guide that will educate me on DCC fundamentals as they relate to reliability and assist me in planning such a layout. Objectivity would also be nice.

It might be that no single book like that exists, but I'd like your input and advice. Thanks,

Have you tried to Google "digital command control"? There are a number of publications listed. I can't say which is best.

This is the manual to the EasyDCC system from CVP. I personally consider it to be the DCC bible.

Their website has tons of info on DCC in general so it's a good reference even if you don't want to use their system.

Hi George,

I am doing similar research and am curious what you find as a good resource. I was pointed in the direction of a great computer control program for your layout and it even can run the trains from a smartphone or tablet/iPad . Check out www.freiwald.com .

Another forum member pointed me in that direction and it is the best control software package I have been able to find so far.
