Best Desktop RR Map?

I have the same one, I think. Don't know of any others and I have looked everywhere I could think find. I'll also be watching this for any thing new that comes along.

I looked on the site where you got yours, and it said North American Railroads 3.11, also said it has been upgraded!  $39.95

Is this the one that you purchased?

I've been looking for a good one for awhile, and was wondering about this one, and just how good it actually was?.................Thanks in Advance.................. Brandy 

Yeah I have 3.11.   Its a must have that I recommend to anyone.  I just wish it was updated to show the most current abandonments etc.

I also have 3.11 (mine says 2010 though). I would also recommend it. Has information and details about current and previous owners of track that may be difficult to find elsewhere. I had looked for information like this on the tracks in my area and this is the only place I have found it so far. Other than another forum member that was kind enough to tell me about several tracks around here. He must have worked for the railroad or was a big rail fan for many years, he knew a lot about it all.

I wopuld like to have paper ones, that you could carry in the car...that are dated...

that is, ones for all the roads in a certain area, even if restricted to state, to include

everyhing at a certain time..that is, one for 1900, and then another for 1940, and

then another under periodic update, for the present.  There are abandoned trestles

and grain elevators in the middle of pastures, and evidence of roadbed is often hard

to find.

Thought I would do a search on 'railroad maps' and I found this one: Federal Railroad Admin Thought is might be of interest to someone? And just a FWIW, I did a Google search for 'railroad maps', it produced an incredibly long list of items. I looked at several and the FRA link above looked the most promising, but a bit cumbersome to use. Although I didn't fiddle with it long enough to really figure out how it worked. I also only looked at the first couple of pages of found links from the search. 

Also there is a series of books titled 'SPV's Comprehensive Railroad Atlas: xxxxx' with the 'xxxxx' after the title's beginning being the area the book covers. I believe they cover the entire U.S.A. (and maybe Canada too) by different areas. Not sure if there is a single book in the series that does the entire country(s). Have not looked at one so I do not know the quality of the contents or how current they are?

The DVD mentioned above could still be the best source of information found so far?
