In this thread, I would like for people to post their favorite rare catch photos. They can be heritage units, interesting locomotives, steam, or just something you don't see everyday. Ill start with my picture of NS 1070, the Wabash. Also, Ill put in my friends photo (with his permission) of NS 34, a track geometry unit. I can't wait to see your replies!

Wow! That is something you don't see everyday! There must be a interesting story behind that!
CP restored it to operation but sadly with Hunter Harrison at the helm she hasn't operated since I believe 2012.

Interesting steamer. Who preserved it?
That CPR Hudson was originally saved by the late Nelson Blount, who also founded Steam Town, up in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Eventually, the entire "Blount Collection" was moved to Scranton, PA, where Steamtown is located today. Back some many years ago (can't remember how long it's been), the Canadian Pacific wanted their own steam program, and traded some diesels to Steamtown, for the 2816, and the CPR then completely rebuilt/restored the 2816, including a complete boiler rebuild and conversion to oil firing.
As a result of management changes on CPR, i.e. E. Hunter Harrison, the whole steam program was "shelved", and poor 2816 simply sits inside one of the shop building in Calgary.
Personally, I wouldn't refer to any of those photos as "rare". But, whatever floats your boat.

On Labor Day I rode an excursion with 765 between Steamtown and East Stroudsburg. The manual interlocking tower was open for us. When 765 returned from turning on a wye south of town, I happened to be standing in the right spot to take this photo between wooden window frames in the tower.
The tower and 765 side by side. The short gate across the sidewalk is operated from the tower
