I am planning on a 4x6 foot foam base I guess 1 1/2 inch will work with green outdoor carpet glued to the foam. Then I am going to mount a few loops of the old Lionel 0-27 track and wire it all together for 1 power feed. This I want to be able to slide with 1 person into a van easy to take to shows to run the LionChief Thomas engines that the kids like. I mount the controls on the fence on a board bolted down and fixed so they cannot snap off the speed dial or turn it to far and break it.
The ? is how best to fix the 0-27 track through the carpet to the foam base? Some drywall screws? Do not think the screws will transfer much noise?
Or would some glue on the carpet work in which case I could add some ballast I guess?
Any suggestions?
Needs to be lightweight and portable to shows. Will probably flex a bit over time with use.
Store in the garage when not in use.
