Obviously the most famous would have been American Freedom Train #4449! I can no longer find on my computer, the nice color photo of her sitting inside the EMD McCook Plant, in July of 1975.

This singleton roamed the shop rails at Buick City, Flint, MI, in 1976....

I've long been wanting to paint an old Lionel NW up in this scheme, but have not found decals accurate/appropriate enough......and the preparation/costs for a one-off set extremely prohibitive.

There were some other Bi-Cen variations applied to the engine later on, mostly simplification of the scheme...

The engine is long gone.  Then again, so is Buick City.  Ditto much of the city's population and other GM facilities.

But it was a class act in its time!

We are sort of drifting away from this forum's real purpose; Real Trains.  However, I need to comment on Rusty's drawing.  To me it is too conservative, or blah, like so many of the other bicentennial schemes of the era.  The real CONRAIL design as posted by Jonathon showing their 3rd Rail model, however, was very flashy, noticeable, and meant to be short term.  It really celebrated our 200th birthday.
