Big Boy #4018 on the move, watch it now.
They have to take the shims out of one of the axles on the tender, so the train is delayed for another few minutes.
Now it is near Union Station, they are pushing the big boy from behind, but the freight cars that help with braking are in front and back of the Big Boy.
Thanks! Ustream link is great way to keep up with the chase, and the 4018 move progress
Dead link....it didn't happen !!!
Sometimes the live stream stops because they are running off of cell phone internet to use the camera. It is working now.
I'm watching them wait for it. Thanks for the link!
Thanks for the link, watching now.
With a UP steam person in the cab of the 4018 they are learning a lot about how to move the 4014. it will be pushed and extra cars are for brakes. they jacked up the tender on sharp curves. and being pushed with a GP38 #2272 from BNSF.
Famous last words. "We haven't been offline since the parking garage" then offline they went.
Even though she is just a shell, still has such a great presence
Got to see the final show. Pretty cool, thanks for sharing. No way we could have been there too, this was the next best thing!

hope someone from Pomona signs up for http://www.ustream.tv
and broadcasts the 4014 move. I'm not close.
Yeah it was cool when it worked...some nice photos have been taken as well. She looked shiny and new...amazing what a nice paint job will do. I'm just glad she is on her way now.

The broken feed was a little frustrating, but in the end it was a good effort. Too bad about all the delays, so not only did they not capture the whole move due to darkness, but the railroad had to stop the move about half way. Wonder if they got it done today.
Did anyone else notice the tender wheels? The rims had been painted white, but only the parts they could reach when it was parked.
Kind of surprised there wasn't a serious effort made by some video crew - even some serious amateurs - to do a small production to record this move. Maybe there was and it hasn't surfaced yet.

Here ya go
Thanks, David. That's more like it!
Interesting that the BNSF sent two engines previously for one of the cancelled moves, and this time it's just one. Looking at the departure from Fair Park itself - kind of sad to think that may be the last time anything will be on those rails. Wonder if they'll now remove that track from the DGNO spur to Fair Park. The RBB&B Circus used that track to park their circus train a number of times in the summer when they were in town (don't think this year, though), but I doubt that would be a reason to keep the track in place.
