Big day today, demolition began!

Well, shame on you! Really, as an owner of one of your cabooses, I could only wish you the best in that tiny, tiny scale. How will you ever see it?

 

Best luck working with the magnifying glasses on all the time. Don't you know that's why we all went to O Scale? So we can see it.

Dick, I am using a magnifier with O! I'll just get a stronger one. I built a HO caboose last week just to see if I could still do it.

 

Chris, I only have 12 x 20 and that is too small for the BAR in O scale so it will have to be HO. I want to have room for the Searsport port facility too.

 

Mike, I will still "lurk" here and I will continue building O scale cabooses too.

Thanks Chris and I will not be a stranger. I am still building O scale cabooses and custom painting for O gaugers.

 

I will inventory all my "stuff" this weekend and place a LARGE for sale ad on the forum soon. I am going to keep several of my personal items, detail parts and decals, everything else will go to make room for new HO stuff.

 

 

 

Whoa! As I was in full demo mode I think I may have discovered the glitch in my trackplan. If I go back and re-lay about 18' of track I can make room for the structures that I want.

 

After I removed the track I discovered I had let one side of the layout evolve into a spaghetti bowl of track, some of it redundant.

Bob, I MIGHT be. I think I may have had too much track. Once I started hand laying the track I just could not stop. I also have decided that IF I stay with O scale I am going to have a double backdrop on one side to hide some staging. This demo may turn into a blessing before it is over.

Hey I can't tell you how happy I am to hear this, I hope it works out for you.  I know what you mean about hand laying, it's like a disease.  I thankfully have kept my main line and sidings the way I wanted them but my RH and TT area are exploding with track..and wiring...and track.  Keep us posted.

Hey Chris,

After you hand-lay all that track it is extremely difficult to make yourself pull it up. I am glad I did pull the 3 switches out though because it allowed me to see the solution to my track woes. I have already re-installed 2 of the switches and I will save the other one. I made room for 2 more structures and my track looks more prototypical too.

Oh I know what you mean, so much time and effort and then to see it come up is painful.  But I am glad that in the end it opened up a new avenue for you to pursue, and that you were able to to re-install those switches...I remember the photos and they were beautifully crafted.  Plus it sounds as if you are much happier with these results, being truer to the prototype and all...sometimes I guess we need things like this to show us the way.    Again glad to hear you are happier with it, keep the updates coming.

Tom, Yes, Iand I still have the B&O locos and cabooses I purchased for that RR. I will keep them just in case I go back to that idea. Malcolm

Whoo boy, Brother Love... do I EVER know first hand your recurring conundrums! 

 

During some of the periods of my model railroading over the decades I have bounced back n' forth from this theme to that, this scale to that... yup... I KNOW EXACTLY what'yer goin' through!

 

I THINK I've settled on a scale (scale S) and I THINK I have settled on a theme that will allow me to indulge my desire for engines and engine livery variety... but still... BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!

Andre, Thanks and I went with my gut on this one and continued demo over the weekend. I will inventory all my stuff this week and give ebay a chance to scalp me with selling fees. It is off to HO.
