Looking to the day when I'll have dump my PS1 / QSI boards and equipment for the latest stuff...that I can shoehorn into the C.T. FM Train Masters. Dallee is showing a 12 Amp. board, that looks good. Anyone have experience with this board with either Dallee or ERR sound gear. This will be a conventional only set-up. Have a variety of unused old QSI speakers of different sizes too. Hoping to get good volume...better than the MRC Sounder. Thanks !

Who was that who had the ERR sound bytes for various prime movers ??? It's not part of their site.

Go to ERR web page, Click on purchase, then Rail Sound Commander product and select your sounds and listen.

I don't believe that ERR offers FM sounds. And no, EMD doesn't sound just like FM.

I've actually seen this board installed, sounds just like the audio clip that Bill posted.

The EMD / FM board mix-up was fixed...and now the correct sounds can be heard, for their respective chooches. I will say this...the old QSI board used the same sound for both FM and EMD....but it's closer to a twelve banger FM OP, especially in soft idle.
I used to live right by a track that was shared by the Soo and the C&NW, on a grade.
The Soo had EMD 567's and the CNW used FM H-16-66's. I could tell which was coming as soon as I heard them, especially when they were working up the grade. A very noticable difference.
Re: the sound clip, couldn't access it, but if ERR is now offering FM - great! I can use a couple. What I really need is a Railsounds Baldwin board for my Baldwin switcher.
I'm confused why you can't access the sound clip, just click on the link Bill posted.
FWIW, FM sounds are NOT all created equal ! Even within the same model ! For whatever reason the CNJ and Lackawanna Train Masters had a different sound, although this was probably aggravated by the terrain they operated in. The DL&W units had a slightly slower, heavier sound, while the CNJ units seemed to be as touch higher in rpm, with more "drumming" associated with the 12 banger OP engine. The H16-44s are a different sound...and well captured by MTH on their Proto Sound 2 FM chip. This was lifted off TVA 3060, when she still ran. It's mighty close to the P&WV H16-44s I remember in Rook as a kid. I have a Lionel 8487 TM in CNJ green with a C.T. chassis. It really wants to have a QSI upper board , especially for the soft idle sound !

Got a message saying not supported. Maybe caused by the government server I'm accessing through?

I haven't heard it yet, but I think Lionel also got a recording of 3060 for their H16-44.
BTW, does the Proto-1 FM board have the same sound chip as the QSI board?
Here you go, this is what's at the audio clip.

MTH and QSI sounds are the same for this EMD / FM application. Not sure exactly what the time period is, but I'm guessing around 1991 until 2000, when MTH branched off into Proto 2. Both systems use similar, but not identical bottom boards. The QSI system has an intermediate charging board for the battery circuit. Both boards also "evolved" over the time to include various plug -ins.
