There have been some great threads about motive power lately.  One thread was about which steam engines we run.  There was another asking about the "best looking" diesels.  I was wondering which BIG modern diesels you run on your layout.  I have two BIG diesels on the Brisbane & Bushong Railroad.  I have an MTH SD70M.  It is in the Brisbane & Bushong RR road name and colors.  I also have an MTH SD70ACe Heritage Series diesel in the Western Pacific road name.  So...which BIG diesels are riding your rails?

I have an SD70 - the first modern O gauge loco I bought, about seven years ago.  It is a great loco but I use it exclusively for pulling my combined vacuum cleaner car and track cleaning car consist.  It has great pull and - well, due to the period I model, I never run it any other time.

Otherwise, I don't do anything much after 1955 - the time period I model on my layout.

But if I did modern, the SD90 is pretty nice . . .  also, my wife and I ride the amtrak Southern Star up and down the east coast several times a year, and I would model the P-40s or 42s, etc.   If, I did modern . . .

Lots of modern diesel-electric units in my collection. The ubiquitous 4000 - 4400hp GE's(North American Safety cabs and conventional cabs) and EMD's contribution... 645 and 710 packers.

Modern was my main interest when I was most active, acquiring O gauge motive power; I've got all generations of equipment, though.

Hard for me to pick favorites these days; I really enjoy a wide variety of motive power.

The largest or most modern diesel I have is three SD-45's by Williams; two Reading Lines, one Pennsylvania, and one SD-45 with PS-2 in Reading Lines from MTH. Not much else made for the railroad I want to model, the Reading Railroad.

MTH currently has a Norfolk Southern heritage diesel SD-70-Ace in Reading Lines, I will have to wait until I can afford it.
