FWIW the N&W footage I posted above is the actual sound produced by the locos in the video. That is a "Herron Rail" video, the folks that did the filming recorded the separate audio at the same time and then it was added to the film.
Heres some more big steam from Herron rail, notice how the steam from the whistle matches the sound.Wish I could have been in one of those gondolas behind the EM1 at the 2:00 mark.
Back to the heavy freight theme.

Well FWIW I have Pocahontas Glory Vols. 1-7 but my favorite N&W DVD is Pillars of Smoke in The Sky by Herron Rail
