Hello all,

I recently picked up a Bing 1 Gauge locomotive. The original 48 volt motor was swapped with a 20 volt motor. I haven't had much luck getting the loco to run. I removed the e unit because that was causing a few issues with not locking into place so engine would go forward, then "chirp" and reverse and then run a little in reverse before shutting down. I cleaned the e unit and realigned the contact but no change. In an effort to trouble shoot the problem I removed the e unit and wires the engine to run in 1 direction. But instead of doing that, the armature would buzz and shake the engine. I then took the armature out, cleaned the commutators and tested the armature and put it back. Still no change, so I tried a DC power source, again, same issue. The issue doesn't always happen, sometimes you need to push the engine but once you do it, the armature locks up again.

I've attached a link to the video showing the issue. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

Thank you,

Sam
