After nine moths of planning, construction started today. Our first ever layout so it will be a leaning experience. The main legs and rim joists went up today. I know using 4x4's are overkill but as a cabinet maker I tend to over build. Finished size will be 9x14 and we plan on have 3 mains and several levels.

Nothing wrong with over-engineering, it's under-engineering that will bite you. I like how you did the top so the 2x4 will rest on the wood rather than stress the screws. That's similar to the method someone else posted, only he used 2x4s. His way is probably cheaper and he added leveling bolts.
