The A4 pacific Bittern has run from London to York yesterday in honour of mallard's record run in 1938.  It received special permission to exceed the 75MPH speed limit for steam trains on the main line, and achieved 92.8MPH while hauling a full passenger train.

The six surviving A4's will be re-united at York to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the record run on July 3rd.   More details and pictures in this BBC report. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23109971
