I did a search came up empty or just not good at it! my question is there a reason I can't go to computer store and get a usb stick and use it as a black module?
not being either computer or electronics savy so hence my question.

No you cannot substitute a USB stick for a black module. There is a way to get free black modules from the old blue upgrade modules. It takes a little work but it's not an expert type of project. Look here: https://ogrforum.com/d...nt/10440673246867811

You can't use a USB stick because Legacy isn't a USB device. The little Orange, Blue, Black keys are SERIAL devices not USB devices. Totally different interface.

Internally, the black modules are just two 24C512 chips, a serial EEPROM device. Of course, the other reason you can't use USB is the connector is totally different from a USB device, even if the electronics happened to be compatible (which they're not).
Hack a couple of blue modules and you'll have writable modules, job done.
thanks for the information all like I said most is greek to me but understand if stated 2 different devices.
I'm in no hurry all my legacy is working as is so for now.
