Dealer and customer feedback is what usually dictates production.

Obviously,  unless Lionel feels a need for another round of financial punishment, they must be feeling quite confident these latest models will sell in the numbers produced..

Myself, I don't believe in this day and age of collapsed valuations in a market pressured under a string of repetitive and excessive production, folks will line up to buy into highly priced models in a big way.  Especially reissues missing heavily advertised upgrades and selling without the benefit of lowered prices.

I took advantage of the blowouts.I bought the three digit B&O EM1 a C&O Mallet and the ATSF 3759.I have preordered three new Legacy locomotives but I'm not paying anywhere close to MSRP. IF they blow them out later,I'll just buy more.Like Jim Sutter said:"Take advantage of these sales if you can."

We are in a "golden age" of O gauge/scale trains.People like me in thier 50's and 60's who have been in the hobby a long time have never had it better. In the next couple of decades,I don't foresee having the huge selection we have nowadays. There will always be a market for electric trains,it will be smaller and the high end even more so. Let's enjoy the bounty of beautiful trains we have.
