Hello everyone,
I have been camping at Blue Springs State Park in Orange City Florida and have been hearing trains frequently throughout the day. I would like to go down to. The tracks and watch some go by. Does anyone know what time these trains reqularly come through? I am guesing that they are CSX or FEC. If it is CSX, Amtrak would come through, too, since they run on CSX track in Florida. I was also thinking that the CSX Tropicana Juice Train would come through, since we are North of Bradenton.

I see now. You are near DeLand. (I had to look it up on a map) The tracks that run by the park are CSX only. Amtrack runs through there about twice a day. Once in the late morning then again early afternoon. The Amtrack Auto Train runs about once every other day. CSX freight schedule is pretty erratic. Anything and everything might go through there at about any time. Mostly unit coal trains though. No juice train

Yes, that is the CSX line.  I don’t live close enough to hear them but there many freight trains per day and I don’t know if there is a printed schedule.  But according to the Amtrak schedules, the Southbound Silver Star arrives in nearby Deland at 9:07am daily, the SB Silver Meteor arrives at Deland at 11:44am, the northbound Meteor leaves Deland at 2:34pm and the NB Star leaves at 8:25 pm.

Also you’re not far from the Autotrain terminus at Sanford.  The Autotrain leaves Sanford at 4:00 pm daily and should pass Blue Springs about 20-30 minutes later.  The Southbound Autotrain arrives in Sanford at 9:30am so it should pass Blue Springs between 9 and 9:15am if it’s on time.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Yesterday, I saw a CSX mixed freight heading south. I just missed the coal train, though. I heard it as I was headed to the tracks. I am planning  to catch  some Amtrak today, including the Auto Train. Hopefully, some CSX will come in between. I would also like to inform you, for those that live in the area, or visit often that there is a paved path along the tracks at Blue Springs, but outside of the admission area. Thanks again!

Amtrak should go by about four times a day, two northbound and two southbound. The autotrain I don't know how it runs, may need to go to Amtrak website for the schedual.

CSX runs mixed freight thru most of the line, many car carriers come down on CSX to WPB and Miami FL. West Palm Beach car unloading is done about half-way between WPB and Indiantown FL along hwy 710.

Coal is not the main product that CSX carries, sand or cement is moved more often then coal in Florida, as not many coal fired electric plants in Florida.
