My L/AF Y-3 had the 6-blink symptom as well.  In my case, it was a loose connector that affected the electrical/IR pathway between the loco and tender.  Or something like that -- I've forgotten all the details.  As I recollect the matter, it might mean poor communication between a device on the axle and the sensor on the body that measures speed -- or something like that.  Thus, the sounds might not be exactly correct.  In any event, the 6-blink is a known error message and Lionel's R&D Dept. knows exactly what it means.  In my case, it was not serious.  Good luck...Ed L.

Had that happen once but I would blame my dirty track.  Not so with you.
Lionel's engine manuals are woefully short on information, more so in the DCC dept.
Don't know if they have an online manual that would be more exhaustive.
The only real gripe I have with my SDs and ES44 is there appears to be no "pop off" sound whatsoever.
I can tell you this, the CP paint is awesome.
Good luck with your SD70ACe!

The 6 blinks means the hall effect pulses are missing from the wheels.  Since your loco is working well on the "surface", as internally it is not, the problem is a motor stall or bad hall sensor.  One truck could be stalling because the load is too great for the loco to be pulling.  You may have to move faster, or consist 2 locos.

Using a Legacy Cab2 you can turn off the CAB Lights.  Not sure about your other question.

Have you emailed anyone at Lionel?

Can the cab light be turned off permanently?
Other than those two minor things I must say both the SD70 and the ES44 are beautiful!
You can be most proud!  I am!
