To make a long story short, I was returning to Lisle from Aurora Sunday evening. I was sitting near the center of the bi-level coach, doors were open to the vestibule. We were accelerating out of the Aurora station and I see someone looking in from outside the exit door window. Then the conductor saw him and called the engineer to stop the train. Response was immediate. He then called the railroad police and they were at the scene in less than a minute. If no one saw him when they did he would not have been able to hold on very long. I guess he thought they would open the doors and let him in. Stupidity at finest!

I haven't witnessed this yet on METRA, but I don't ride as often as I once did. I do remember situations during the blizzard years (winter 78-79 or 79-80) when downtown employers were letting workers out early, to beat the storm, and, because of overcrowding, trains were running with the car doors open on the gallery cars. People were hanging onto vestibule floorspace by bracing themselves against outside appliances as well as the poles. Some regulations were overlooked at that time.
