BNSF Heritage Program…..kind of

Per the Railroads Illustrated CTC Board……….

In late October, BNSF unveiled the first equipment in a line of heritage-painted rolling stock. For each predecessor road, three covered hoppers will be lettered and receive logos: Santa Fe; Frisco; Burlington Northern; Great Northern; Northern Pacific; Spokane, Portland & Seattle; Chicago, Burlington & Quincy; Fort Worth & Denver; and Colorado & Southern. Each of the cars is painted in a basic light gray scheme at the Havelock car shops in Lincoln, Nebraska.

On October 28, five cars, including three Frisco covered hoppers numbered 480539, 483110, and 486742, as well as GN covered hoppers 477433 and 489368, were seen near Hutchinson, Kansas. The next week, BNSF 477432 was spotted wearing a Great Northern logo at Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Who will be the 1st to produce these BNSF Heritage Hoppers in O Scale? If you find these Heritage Hoppers on the rails, please take some pictures!

Swafford

The BNSF 3-bay Covered Hopper with the Great Northern logo is an American Railcar Industries ARI Through-Sill Covered Hopper. That is not a car made in O Scale. The KCS Southern Belle Covered Hoppers are ARI Through-Sill Hoppers, so it would be a great time for MTH or Lionel or Weaver Models to start producing the new ARI Through-Sill Covered Hoppers.
