I like the post title got my attention
I merged them on my model railroad so it sounded right to me.

Always use your turn signal.
Looks like BNSF won by a nose.
It looks like the UP Geep is one of their remote-controlled locomotives. I'm wondering where the operator was relative to all of this. They said both trains were moving so I'm wondering if the remote operator could see the other train or just overshot the foul point markers.
Seeing as no one was injured, then this one ought to be interesting (entertaining) to see how it plays out in regards to rules compliance.
Some things that MAY be:
* If it was in a yard, then they SHOULD be operating under "Restricted Speed": Able to stop within half the range of your vision.
* IF that is a remote unit that was operating remotely, then it introduces the RCZ rules where before entering the RCZ, the other trains MUST find out if the zone is ACTIVE and if so, WHERE the RCU is located.
SO... it could either be a case of failure to comply with Restricted Speed, or failure to comply with RCZ rules, or some of both... or other factors! Whatever, this much is sure: SOMEONE(s) getting ready to get fired.
Like many already stated, not exactly the type of merger I was thinking of.............. good one though!

Too lazy to open the link, but happy someone copied the photo. I figured it was real, kind of like American Airlines buying up the competition. I keep thinking we are headed toward oligarchy.
No merger? And here I was anticipating a whole new line of Heritage engines!
Those colors would make for an interesting paint scheme.
