Hello everyone.

With a heavy heart I would like to inform you that my Dad, Robert "Bob" Brasseur, passed away on February 27, 2025. Another "Old Guard" icon of our industry is gone and will be sorely missed.

Bob had a lifelong passion for Lionel trains. He acquired Lionel Service Station #199 in 1970. This was the start of Brasseur Electric Trains in Saginaw Michigan. I (Dean) got my passion for repairing trains from him at an early age and years later I helped him open the train store.  Bob was also instrumental in Jacob's (his grandson and Dean's son) passion for train repair as well.

Jacob and I are carrying on the tradition of providing excellent customer service through Brasseur Electric Train Repair in Albemarle, NC.

Dean...this is indeed very sad news.  Your Dad was one of my favorite people in this hobby.  He always was helpful and informative as well as the ultimate professional.  He will be sorely missed.  I want you to know that I moved this to the announcements and featured it in all forums.  Please accept my sincere condolences and prayers on behalf of the OGR staff.

Dean, I am so sorry to hear! Early in my career in the 1980s, I lived and worked in Saginaw. Back then your dad sold trains out of his basement. He was still working at Steering Gear, and a visit meant long conversations about  work and trains. I bought and still have alot of Lionel from him. He was a tough negotiator when it came to pricing, as I always wanted more than I could afford! Good memories.

My prayers are with you and your family.

So sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. As you may recall, I first meet Bob (and you) while you were selling and repairing trains out of your Dad's basement on Labor Day weekend in 1993. Visiting with your Dad at both stores on Court St. in Saginaw and having discussions regarding trains (and other topics) was always most enjoyable. My mother and father very much enjoyed chatting with your Dad, too, when I brought them along in tow. The help and advice (and repairs) offered were of great help along the way of my toy train journey. I truly miss him.

Your family is in my prayers. Godspeed.

Bob
