I have a NYC TMCC crane (item number 6-19897) That will not lower the boom. All the other motors work in both directions but the motor for the Boom will only go up. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas as to why would cause everything to work except that.
Would appreciate any help.

Sounds like the motor control board, but that's just a guess.

Do you hear the boom motor running and it’s not moving down or is the motor not running in the down position?

Alex: The motor runs fine for raising the boom and the other three motors work in both directions. The motor does not run when trying to lower the boom. Since all the other motorized functions worked OK, I did not think it would be the motor driver board.

Each motor has separate components on the motor driver board. If the motor doesn't run at all, that would be my top suspect. Since, as you say, the motor runs in the other direction, one presumes the wiring to the motor driver board is intact.
Everything John said above is absolutely correct , did you try reprogramming it ? I just had two cranes here for a restring and one of them did the same thing you’re explaining. I reprogrammed it and it worked fine.
