Wanting this unique trailer for a while, I finally one one on "da Bay". It's the Bowser Amtrak 10,000 & counting Roadrailer. First Leased to Amtrak and now it's part of the Triple Crown Fleet sometime after 2005.

  • Just like other bowsers of the second roadrailer run, this trailer is painted a white base coat with silver painted aluminum details where prtotypically appropriate.
  • The trucks are highly detailed bowser plastic 3 rail trucks and
  • the trailer comes with the familiar add on plastic details in a separate bag [consisting of 3 different trailer mating tougues and the longer landing gear so one can use the trailer correctly standing up at a dock or terminal]
  • The graphics are close to the prototype.

IT appears on my model, bowser used the trailer wheels from the First run - Cream[off white] colored rims instead of bright white or grey or silver.

For me, this is no big deal as I will swap out the "floor" with one of my Weaver model Triple crown Roadrailers and have Silver rims on my 10K and the White rims on my triple crown. Although my research is limited on this particular trailer, all the on- line pics that I have seen show Grey colored wheel hubs instead of whitre or silver- but Silver is closer than Off white.

While surely a unique paint scheme, For better prototypical accuracy, there can be some easy detail touchups which I will do:

  • Paint the roof the hammered silver color
  • touch up the silver hinges on the doors
  • paint the rear tail lights
  • paint all the side/corner trailer marker lights
  • paint the cab end electrical box
  • touch up the silver bottom frame and minimize the exposed base white paint
  • add the three colored- air/electrical lines that are prototypically exposed on the cab end from the floor to the electrical box

Some of my enhanced touchups can be seen on this Weaver Models roadrailer:

Overall, due to this unique paint scheme, I urge many Amtrak/triple crown modelers in O guage to obtain this trailer. One never knows IF Weaver models will ever reproduce one- esp in the current Triple crown scheme. since there are still many Bowser models hanging around.
