so here’s something I saw online a while back and figured I try: magnetic brake hoses. The only trouble I ran into were the magnets being polarized but what should I have expected? The turn out was really good. Only piece of advice I’d recommend that I wish I had followed is, when you install the hoses, alternate sides like they do on real trains. Let the hoses hang beneath the couplers instead of one side like I did. On these few cars, when they go through left curves, the hoses come apart until it’s back on straight track

Looks impressive! Have you tried applying them on alternating sides yet? How easily do they connect under O gauge 3-rail couplers?

I wish I had done alternating sides the first go around. I did alternating sides on about half of my 40 boxcars before I ran out of magnets. They work much better with alternating sides. One thing I will mention is that wider turns work much better. I have some 0-36 curves on my table and some 0-60. On the 0-36, the same side hoses pop off and will rejoin on the straights. On the 0-60, they stay together. Then on my 0-72 floor track that goes around my bedroom, the hoses don't even think of coming apart unless the cars uncouple. The hoses don't seem to mind the 3-rail couples as long as you glue the hose in the right place which requires a little practice. I'd recommend using scotch tape to hold the hose in place so you can figure out where the right place is then glue it. As for how easily they connect, it hasn't given me any problems yet however the big magnet underneath is a threat for sure. When you glue the hoses on, make sure they stretch past that disc and that the magnets are polarized the correct way. Keep in mind that if you glue a magnet the wrong way, you'll instantly polarize the car in one direction. I'd recommend gluing the magnets in a way where some cars have the positives face out on both ends and some have negatives face out. That way cars can be turned around and don't have to face a specific direction. In the case that the magnets don't line up perfectly, the sides will still try to connect so the hoses will go together, just not face to face
