I know this is a long shot posting this request here, but here goes anyway...

I need an L2A Brake Valve for an old passenger car. We have a core for exchange, however the core is worn too far to pass a single car test. We need this valve to make a one-time move with an old passenger car. Your valve could be returned after we complete the move.

If you have such a valve, or know where I can get one, please email me at 765(at)rpmelvin.com.

Thanks.

Good idea. I just talked with CMO Linn Moedinger. He said they may have one. He will check and let me know.

No waiver possible. If the car is going to move over an FRA-regulated railroad (in this case it will be NS, WLE and OCRR)  it must have working air brakes.

Some do. But in earlier days there used to be a mixture of air and vacuum in use. Some rolling stock is fitted with both systems. Air brakes are starting to be the most common nowadays though in the post-steam era. Electro-pneumatic systems are also quite popular.
