Tonight I watched a railfan show where the presenter had traveled on the MRS freight line in Brazil.  I was puzzeled by the engine numbering scheme consisting of four numbers, a dash, then a number.  Someone thought the last digit was an authenication digit, and another recalled that a TrainsOrder article explained the numbering scheme.
