What do people think? Where did the GP-7 come from? A great train episode!

Huh? I think we're missing the main part.
It's a phenomenal episode about the hijacking of a train transporting chemicals. There is a youtube video regarding the filming with interviews with the engineer.
that was such a great episode. truck stuck on the track.
Pretty cool!! Breaking Bad one of my very favorite tv shows. Saw every episode.

EMD diesels do not have dashes in the model number. That locomotive is a GP7. The only place where you see a dash in an EMD model number is in the "Dash 2" models, as in SD40-2.
Looks like Santa Fe Southern to me.
The track is the ex-ATSF Lamy, NM, to Santa Fe branch, and the geep is also ex-ATSF.
The train "broke"? There was a comment about replacing a governor part, but I'd like to know the real story. I have never heard of a governor failing during such light duty as the engine was performing. Perhaps something in the fuel rack/governor linkage broke but that would have also been a bizarre failure. Anyway, they thought of almost everything. The one guy they forgot to hire was a locomotive mechanic who could fix anything on the spot and would have had access to radiator water, lube oil and governor oil, as well as spare filters. That would have covered it all.
It's obvious that they have filmed in desert before and knew they would need a snake wrangler. That guy really knew his stuff. That was a bull snake he picked up. They aren't venomous, but they have extremely foul dispositions and usually hiss loudly, and will bite without any provocation. That snake was as docile as a kitten in the hands of that wrangler.
