Someone brought this into the shop today asking for info on it. I was not there, but the boss took some pictures. Unfortunately he did not take any from underneath. Anyone know anything about the engine and coaches? Do the belong together?

thanks

Steve

I think the logos on the coaches are the old Marklin logos, a big C through an M.

French and German registered together are not uncommon. I think they are pre Great War.

There are many loco's like this. If I'm correct these are called Storchenbein, a nickname.

Storchenbein, thats a bird, stork. The name points to that one big and little fore runner.

My books are at my workshop, I hope I'll find some more later.

Hello Steve,

Very nice set from Georges Carette. It seems all original and to be a complete set. Giving a date is not easy, pre world war I of course so around 1910. This type of engine called storkleg was comon in those times.

An excellent collector piece and condition seems very good, not so easy to find today.

Very best,

Daniel

I'am not sure if the loco is a 100% genuine. There are a few things missing I think: this engine had a foot plate, the big wheels were covered above the frame and the whistle handle had a wooden grip to prevent your fingers toasted. And there was a logo on the cab side. Looks repainted to me.

In all I think it's a nicely restored and cleaned loco. They were made from 1895 till 1914.
