I know this would involve new tooling but I wonder if there would be enough interest in a less expensive European option for MTH like a smaller diesel or steam locomotive like a switcher “shunter” with all the sounds, smoke and command control. Maybe a ready to run set or individual sale locomotive.  Lionel has there Hogwarts maybe something like that in a premier line .  Here are some examples from a company called “Dapol” in the UK That are 2 rail DC

In my view MTH has completely giving up to make European items. The last catalogues do not show anything new; only unsold stock. But ACE and/or Darstaed has also made the steam-locomotives in your pictures in 3-rail versions.

Yes Fred it certainly appears that way. At first MTH’s line of European offerings  seemed to take off but now has kind of died off a bit.  Darstead are beautiful models but not that much bang for the buck considering their cost.

I have an MTH Proto 2, 3V, Chapelon Pacific Engineering Edition (20-3383-1) and it sparked my interest of Euro Trains. I will agree with you guys that I was quite sad to see the same offerings on the latest MTH catalog. Looks like there isn't enough of  a flowing to justify more product BUT a better price point for a smaller loco might get the gears moving.

A small Shunter or Diesel will definitly make its way into my collection if they were to ever produce one.

One can only dream at the moment.

Thanks guys!
