I am again posting the continuing saga of detailing the Lionel 21" Pennsy passenger cars. The work is being done by fellow TMB member Frank Incantalupo.

On detailing the Bway :Ltd Dining Car Frank modified the interior of the car and installed seat backs as suggested by John Rowler, For the 4 person tables he glued scale city #48-572 table tops with silverware. After trimming them so they fit he painted all the table tops white and then highlighted the silverware with a 1mm chrome pen. The 2 person tables were painted white and Frank again using the chrome pen to highlight the silverware. He then installed the people using mostly Lionel passengers as well as some cheaper figures that arrived from China. The Chinese figures needed some surgery before they would fit. Frank then made his soup plates from 5mm sequins which he painted red by sticking them onto some blue painters tape then sprayed them with a rattle can.. After gluing them in place he hand painted the centers of the pates green as Split P{ea soup was the first course that evening. . Lastly he glued water glasses in place, he used bead treasures #1 hexagon glass beads for the glasses.  Here are the pictures of Franks Work.

Please share any photos of Dining car detailing

The cost was about between$85- $100 .The largest expense , by far, was for the Lionel 21inch figures. Frank

That's great work. Everything looks great through the car windows under illumination, which is what matters most.

The Lionel figure sets are in fact "recycled" K-Line passengers from years back. I agree that the cost of them is high but (a) they do fit without modification and (b) the somewhat better (more variety) Railking figures are pricey too - if you can find them.
