I bought this beautiful Legacy ES44AC (Lionel number 2233492) Canadian Veterans Edition a week ago. it has less than 15 minutes of runtime on it and when I started it up today, I noticed I could not get it to decouple from the car behind it. Hmmm…
so after shutting it down and removing it from the track then turning it over, I see that a wire has broken going to the electro coupler for some bizarre reason. (See pics).
It worked fine every other time I used it but now it has separated overnight (?) for no obvious reason.
My local hobby shop is a Lionel repair station, but I am hesitant to take it in because I wonder if I can fix it myself.
i’m sure it would be fixed under warranty but it is a pain to pack it back up, make the half hour drive there, leave it etc. then go back to get it. What would you do?
my concern doing it myself is I don’t have enough hands to hold the wires together, hold the solder, and hold the soldering iron. Do you have any recommendations?
