As the title states, I'm looking for a P/N for the spring holder in the brushplate for a Lionel F3 2344 horizontal motor. One of the tabs that holds the spring broke off (someone had soldered it on there before I got it). My book does not breakdown the motor assy. Or if not, does anyone know if any spring holder from another brush-plate will work? If so maybe I can get a brushplate kit or a brush plate from a different type motor from one of our sponsors here on the forum, if it will work. Thanks in advance.

Interesting question!
I looked in Greenberg's Repair and Operating Manual which I have used for nearly 40 years.
It breaks the motor assembly down just fine, only it is for the earlier 2333 motor. Which is largely the same but has a different brush holder approach - tubes. It shows that brush holder as 2333M-9.
You would also need springs for it.
That all said, if it were me I would replace both brush holders for the sake of having the two motors as identical as possible for performance as identical as possible. Perhaps I am being too fussy. I would not want one motor pushing or pulling the other if I could avoid it. New springs and brushes at the same time.
Now if someone reading this has Supplements from Lionel in the 50s then there well ought to be one that shows later horizontal motor F3 parts.

Thanks CPF3, my manual which is the original Lionel Service Manual from Madison Hardware unfortunately does not breakdown the motor assy. For the 622 it breaks down to the brushplate but nothing further. My motor does not have the tubes it just has the more modern brushplate. Much appreciated for looking for me though. I'll continue my search.
Have greenbergs also does not show the holder unfortunately along with Olsen's same pics.
ConrailFan i recall seeing brush holders at one point in time but long ago no longer see any brush holders online.
The brushplate assembly part number is 2343-119 even a used one will be of use if your looking for the brushholders which can be removed from one.
Scratching my head though simply cannot recall where i bought some when needed for a lionel steam engine long long ago.
Edit there is a < 622 diesel brushplate kit > on the bay it shows the brusholders not sure if those are the same size .
Ignore double picture they are the same pic.

Thanks Dieseler for the help! I have the 622 one on e-bay saved in my watch list. I was thinking about going the same router as you suggested with getting another brushplate and removing the spring holders. I am going to check a couple of my other engines and take measurements, if they look to be the same I will get the 622 on on e-bay. Thanks again for the help.
When i took picture i measured with ruler both motors holder they were 1/6 or about short of an inch. Its my thinking some of the old diesels used the same brush holder as i just opened a lionel 2328 gp and brush holder measure the same 1/6 short of an inch end to end. By looking at all holders today they look the same to these old eyes just set into different brush plate covers.
Much Appreciated! That's what I thought! I'll go ahead and get the one for the 622 then. Much Appreciated for the help!
