Here are a couple of slideshows of BTS kit assemblies. Click on the underlined phrases.
....input re paint, prep and assembly.
Be very wary of the end grain of the wood used in BTS kits. Can soak up paint like a sponge and warp; well worth sealing that part of the wood.
Rest of the kits are generally pretty straightforward - paint and/or stain what you can while it's still in the webbing to save you a bit of later tedious work.
Mike, what paints did u use? The shade of green is nice too
martin, thanks for the tip

General panel paint was:
Krylon or Rust-oleum Camouflage spray can paints. Kahki, Forest green, Light green, Brown, White, and maybe even Black.
Miniwax stains. Golden Oak, Walnut.
Detail paints were Polyscale (Now Model Master) acrylic. Railroad Tie Brown. Roof Brown, Grimmy Black maybe some others.
Best wishes with your project.

For those local, or traveling the area, Beaver County, PA. The Coal tipple, Supply building, and other items from my layout, are on display, McDonald's Restaurant , Beaver (Vanport) PA through December. The display case is near the counter. Mike CT
These are incredible kits. They are really well engineered. I am amazed at how well they fit together. I need to get another one - I really enjoy building them. As for the paint, ditto the suggestions above. Spray paint with several light coats.

Hi Brad
Have you tried Firefox as your browser? I find it works best with forums.
Cheers
Most of my pictures are on a Photobucket account. It is relatively easy to link the pictures to the new Hoopla forum format. I did note the pictures to be larger. I think??
There is a degree of organization to the Photobucket account with Albums and Sub Albums that allows a "sort through" to fine a picture.
The Photobucket account has grown to over 6,000 photos, 4 videos, and currently has over 83,000 views, most from this forum. It has taken the better part of this week to get familiar with the new forum. I have yet to be able to link my few videos. Old foggy head probably needs some work or upgrades also.
Nothing last for every including you and me.
Best wishes
Mike CT
