I'm building a turntable also. You might lookup Adruino. I've actually got my motor mounted and have tested my electronics. Seems to work very well. The programs (or sketches) are fairly easy to write or there are several online already written.

I'm using

Adruino 2560 board, 3x4 Keypad, display, Nema 23 stepper with 5:1 gearbox, TB6560 motor driver

Why do I not see attempts at building a center mounted direct drive motor. I came across a 0.6RPM motor 12vdc reversable and use a controller with fwd/off/rev with speed control center direct mounted on a .250 thick aluminum plate as to avoid flex with a .250 thick aluminum pit wall. Where does one find the bridge trucks and single rail track ? Any thoughts ? or info ?

I don't mean to change the OP subject but can you tell me where you found what you described here? It sounds like I could use this to automate a lift bridge I am planning.

BTW- An idea for the single rail track would be Gar Graves 30 inch flex track. Cut it between the center and outer rail through a table saw with a fine tooth blade (wider side towards the fence) Bend the full diameter you need it by cuting a circle the size you want out of 1/2 plywood to use as a jig. Good luck. Nick
