Discovered a loose connection from tender to one of my locos. The PS2 tether is making intermittent contact. Can it be replaced? Is there a cost friendly fix?

I had one like that with a loose tether.Spayed both ends real good with CRC Electronic cleaner ,and then put a piece of electrical tape around and secured it to the bottom of the engine for further concealment .It ran good again. Not the correct fix, but it will keep you running. What about using one of those wireless draw bars MTH sells?then you don't have to plug it in I believe. Cheers-kennyb
If you are referring to a wired tether then check and see how close the connector on the engine is to the back panel. Sometimes the connector is set too far in. If so take off the shell and remove the connector and file the holes so the connector can be moved back as close as possible to the back panel.

If you saying it is loose and the tether comes out of the connector easy, than do what Pete states and also check that the ends of the connector plastic are not broken. They have small holes to help latch the tether.
If it goes in firmly but you still loose connectivity, it could be bad solder joints on the engine side connector, or a broken wire in the tether. Both can be repaired or replaced. G
Thanks guys! I just realized I have another dead PS2 engine on display )a railking general with the exact same tether in pristine shape just sitting there. I'm going to try and swap them - I'm confident it's the tether harness, because just bending the tether in one direction brings back the connection. It didn't realize it before but it got pinched by the tender housing the last time it was put back together and there's an imprint where the tether essentially got crushed by the force of the screws. **** me! Anyway, hopefully that General tether can just swap in and I'm good to go.
Been nothing but poor luck with this Hudson. : /

Well....lesson learned the hard way. You can't swap out a RK General PS2 tether for an upgraded PS1 to PS2 Premier NYC Hudson tether. Darn it.
It actually was just the right length, but all of the socket connectors don't fit in the other engines sockets! :-(
So close.....
Where can I get the exact, correct, replacement tether for the NYC Premier Hudson upgraded from PS1 to PS2?
