Have you ever found, hidden away for years in your own basement or wherever you store your trains  something really nice that  you had completely forgotten about?

I call this buried treasure.

A few minutes ago I found these gorgeous  K-Line diecast hoppers:

I have a total of 4 of these hoppers: 3 PRR and 1 B&O.

They weigh a ton and they are big, definitely scale.

I think I tucked them away in a closet in my basement because, they are so big and heavy, I probably thought they would be difficult to run on my sharp 031 curves and 022 switches on my layout. I will take them for a spin tomorrow and report back.

Also I will use one of my heaviest, most powerful locomotives to pull them.

If you have ever found buried train treasure in your own home that you had forgotten about, show it to us and tell us about it. Arnold

Arnold, That’s fantastic! I too discovered one of these magnificent die cast K line hoppers.I remember selling off 3 of them in a lawn sale and could not find the Peabody one. Until one late night I was looking for something or other scale part and there in the recesses of the tub was a wrapped something! There it was the Peabody yellow hopper. By the way these sound amazing with their free spinning metal wheels on sprung trucks. I ran my group of four with a post war F3 what a powerhouse!
those PRR and FORD hoppers are awesome!

I really meant it when I said buried treasure, with emphasis on treasure. These K-Line diecast hoppers are outstanding. See them being hauled by an MTH RailKing Proto 1 Jersey Central FM Trainmaster:

Although those K-Line hoppers are very heavy, they glide easily along the track with their fast angle wheels. They also have very nice detail with doors on the bottom that manually open and close and with sprung trucks. Arnold

Got to agree with you on your evaluation of the K-Line d/c 4 bay hoppers. I had 13 of them that I ran on the SD 3Railers layout but unfortunately 13 must have been an unlucky number. One of the cars of the 4 car set of Chessie/C&O ended up with one end falling apart from zinc pest.
