Joe,

I'm a diesel guy too and thats all I have right now, but I'm also a train guy too, and that means if I'm interested in something, and can fit it into the budget, I buy it. From a nostalgic perspective they're a must have for me. A few steam locos are certainly in my future. Here is a little booger that I've got my eyes on. Nice detail and will run on my 56"radius main.

Travis, that's a sharp one too.

I've got some steamers. The Alleghenies have been my favorite. I've got some Challengers in G scale too. When family comes over they want to see the steamers run.  Urrgggg. I'm running a huge diesel consist that needs to park for the steam excursion! They like the chuffing smoke and the drivers turning. So, I can't help but always looking at them. I would have got a Niagara if Mikey releases one in PS3. I'm hoping he doesn't now as I just don't need any more!

If he makes a new G scale engine(s)?, I'm all in for that too. I may need a wharehouse instead of a basement!

I bet you club guys can just hide them at the club and say they're on loan? Hey, I'm going to become a dealer so I can say they're for someone else! (Scottie!!!)

Jim, I was watching your post to see what's the favorite. I don't have a lot of steam. I thought the discussion would get heated! I'm glad you found an engine that satisfies your hunt. Many people push what they prefer and I can see the points of each. In the end, it's just a hobby so lets run trains and have fun.

I feel like a kid pushing the horn button. It just looks and sounds great. If you enjoy running that one, you scored a home run!

Chris, we need to send you something to get started. You'll need at least three in a train, to feel the rumble.

I have never been a steam guy.  Like I said earlier in the post it was a gift for the wife because her Great Grandfather was and engineer on the NYC-MCRR.  I still prefer my Little Joes.  Price was secondary, the road and DCS were the important things.

The most important thing was how her face lit up when I let her start it up for the first time and take it around the track.......priceless.
