I watched a video on all sorts of repair ideas using CA glue and baking soda.

I just thought I would report on my personal experience. This repair procedure works very well.

I was custom painting a train car. After I applied the last clear coat, I dropped it and chipped off a tiny corner. I could not find the broken piece and did this CA trick. It worked great.

Broken shell.

Glued on two pieces of styrene plastic covered with painters tape. Glued on with rubber contact cement so they would remove easy. This kept the baking soda and CA glue in place.

A little light sanding and a new sharp hobby knife to re make the groove and then repainted. I still have to put a new clear coat on to even everything out. But I think it came out ok.

The Blunami board above has much potential. Ron, do you know the dimensions? Darrel Lamm has a converter that he feels could provide a 3rail option for the 4400. The combined boards would then be option for 3 raiders versus the other approaches. Then, by dropping out the Lamm board and using a battery you could get to dead rail. My head vis banging with the possibilities. How long before the Blunamis are out? Did they say?

I put the 2200 in an MTH 44 tonner.

But the 4408 is the real O and G scale board due out this month.  Soundtraxx says 69 x 30.5 x 14 mm

Here the the 44 toner.

Ron...

Excellent info re CA and NaHCO3!  Gonna try it soon!

Ditto 44-tonner dead rail mod.  Could you please add this conversion video to the "Other" R/C control Forum  to capture it for those of us seriously considering DR.

Thanks!

Never would I have thought of mixing CA & baking soda. Great repair! My kitchen chemistry would probably result in a hazmat emergency of the "let's see what happens when you mix bleach and cleanser" variety lol.

1.  Always have good ventilation when using the CA with anything Jim.

2. Not sure about the bleach and cleanser.......but never  use bleach and any product containing  AMMONIA.
