cab 2 battery life

I had no luck with the whole charging system/ batteries. After a few months I experienced what you did and attempted to use replacement batteries to no avail. I just decided to put electrical tape over the base and remote contacts and just use normal non rechargeable batteries. Despite a good amount of use the batteries have only been replaced once since I got Legacy when it first came out. 

Lionel is outstanding at taking care of this issue so call them and they an walk you through some tests and if necessary they can repair it.

My experience is similar to Alex. I put a set of good non-rechargeable batteries in and covered the contacts with tape back last fall when I got the system. Even with almost daily use, I haven't had to change them since, and haven't even lost one bar of the battery life indicator as of now.

Ditto here.  Gave up and just use Alkaline and tape over the contacts as well as disable the charger via the switch on the base.
