Removed all four shell mounting screws and the tender base will move forward or backward but will not come apart from the shell.  The instructions mention nothing about the shell and base binding and not able to separate those two parts.

Trying to get at the internals of the tender to replace the small battery and replace with a BCR-2.

How do you separate and remove the base from the shell?

If you have the tender frame sliding, you’re almost there,…..slide the tender frame as far back as it will go, no need to force it. Using a flashlight, look into the shell at the front, in the space created by sliding the frame back ……at the top of the shell, you’ll see a single screw,….take this screw out, retrieve it with a magnet, and now the entire tender front wall will slide out. Now, slide the tender frame forward and out of the slot……a magnetic tipped screwdriver will aid in putting the screw back in the top of the shell,….holler if you need pics….
