Hello,
I haven't posted in awhile, and I never measured my short-line freight train's average speed over its 124-foot course, so here it is:
124 feet x 48=5952 feet in O-Scale, which is 1.13 scale miles.
Using my stopwatch, and starting from a realistically slow standing start, I lapped the course in one minute and 42.7 seconds, which is 1.71 minutes.
Using the relationship of 60MPH=a mile a minute, I came up with 1.13/1.71, or 0.66 miles/minute, which equates to .66x60, or 39.65 Scale MPH, which is a reasonable average for a desert-based short-line freight.
It's good...I like it!
That's all...
