The year is 1955 and although a few F's have wandered from Roseville to Oakland, steam was still champ on all freight and most passenger trains...

 

Photo #1.....The location is Fruitvale and an EB train for San Jose headed by 2-10-2 3669 is on the move, the date is July 13, 1955.

 

Photo #2.....Train 27, headed by GS-6 4463 makes a station stop at Martinez to drop off mail, the second section will have the PA's, the date is July 2, 1955.

 

Photo #3.....WB Cab Forward 4203 has an empty reefer block for Watsonville and is wasting no time, the location is west Ozol siding between Martinez and Port Costa....the date is July 1, 1955.

 

Photo #4.....WB Cab Forward 4237 rolls thru a flooded Martinez station platform during a heavy rain, the diesels couldn't do this, but it’s no problem for the steam power...the date is January 4, 1955.
