This 3-day weekend, The Boss and I packed up our dogs and went on a 150 mile road trip to the northern coast of California. We stayed at the Little River Inn in Little River, California. We did some hiking and exploring along numerous beaches between Little River and Fort Bragg, CA. Our room deck overlooked the ocean. We were so close we could hear the waves breaking. Had some great gourmet food and adult beverages. While we were in Fort Bragg we checked out the California Western Railroad. This is an excursion train more famously known as the "Skunk Train." Legend says it got its name because of the stinky smell from their diesel and steam locomotives. The train runs diesel, steam and motorcar excursions on a 40-mile route thru the redwoods in Mendocino County. I once rode it many years ago, as a kid. We could not ride it this time because we had our dogs. So...I just wandered thru their rail yard and took some pics. We also shopped in their gift store. Maybe next time...without our puppies...we'll take a ride on it. It was a great get away with a "railroad accent." I took all of the photos except for the running steam locomotive.
